The four central Akstafa type medallions in the central field of this rug lends it a deep tribal feel. The dark blue of the main field contrasts beautifully with the light blues in the outer border. The field is packed with ancient geometric motifs, animals and flowers and the outer light blue border is woven with the dragon S-motif symbolizing protection. Even today, 115 years after it was woven, the cleverness of the design conveys a balance between the geometry of our modern surroundings and the beauty of nature.
