Antique Kazak rugs are among the most sought-after by tribal rug collectors because of their varied vegetable-dyed colours and compositional balance. In this wonderful piece, a rust-red colouredfield is used to surround a repeating pattern of Boteh (representing fertility and longevity) as well as an array of other ancient tribal symbols. Surrounded by skillfully woven borders of stars and flowers in imaginative colourvariations, this rug is nearly 130 years old, but is in excellent condition and would make a wonderful addition to most interiors.
