This piece is recommended for carpet collectors.
This Shirvan antique rug was carefully woven in the Southeast Caucasus (ancient Persia).
Cream is often used as the ground colour in Shirvan prayer rugs. This beautiful rug uses all natural dye colours and demonstrates the unsurpassed skill of Caucasian weavers in their combinations of colour to create a work of art that is balanced and calm. This rug is decorated with varying diagonal floral motifs. The outer edge is decorated with flowers and traditional Shirvan reciprocal geometric design.
This antique carpet has been restored in places, but the carpet is in excellent condition for a carpet that was woven and used around 140 years ago, making it a beautiful, high quality carpet with a more tasteful appearance.
