Size 140 cm x 83 cm. (4' 7" x 2' 9")
This Baluchi player rug was beautifully woven by the Baluchi tribe around 1910. The weaver has managed to achieve a fine and sophisticated design using very few colours with a wonderful contrast between the deep reds and oranges in the border . The outer edge is decorated with the traditional archaic geometric motifs which frame the main camel coloured field and hands symbolising good luck in the upper corners. The main motif is the boteh, a leaf or plant of ancient Persian origin, which represents longevity and vitality. This beautiful antique rug is made of fine hand spun wool and hand dyed with natural dyes. There are some small repairs and an even low pile, however this antique rug is in very good condition for its age.
